Eliot Senior Citizens Monthly Meetings

senior meetingThe Eliot Senior Citizens group meets the second Wednesday of every month. Join us to stay informed about senior issues and events in Eliot. Meetings include lunch and guest speaker or entertainment. This program is free to all seniors.

"Senior Appreciation Day" Turkey Dinner

The South Berwick-Eliot Rotary will host a turkey dinner for the Eliot Seniors. The turkey dinner will be served at 12:00 PM. Please call the Rotary at 748-1234 to make your reservation. The last day to register for this event is Monday, May 7th.

Senior Clambake

Enjoy your choice of lobster or lobster roll served with steamers, corn on the cob, roll, drink and dessert. The Youth Bound Summer Program will once again be on hand to serve your meal to you for this afternoon. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be on sale beginning June 1st. Deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, July 13th. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Senior Cookout

Come join us for the annual senior BBQ. We’ll enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, beverages and desserts. Tickets are available for purchase in the ECSD office. Last day to purchase tickets is Monday, August 6. No tickets will be sold at the door. Edward Jones will be sponsoring the event and entertainment will be provided.

Entertainment: Ramblin' Richard Music: Richard Kruppa, a musician and story teller over the past decade has entertained dozens of senior groups all around New England.  He sings songs- mostly from the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 60s- accompanying himself on three instruments (Guitar, Banjo & Ukulele).

Breakfast ClubCome join us for breakfast around the Seacoast. Each time we will visit a new restaurant for a yummy start to our day. The cost of breakfast is on your own. The programs fee covers transportation to and from the restaurant. Quite a few breakfast places only accept cash so please plan accordingly. Please register by the Thursday prior to our trip.

McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center & Common Man Restaurant

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center (Concord, NH) is a sustainable memorial that will engage minds, make learning fun, and inspire people of all ages to pursue lifelong learning about our universe. The center features two floors of interactive permanent exhibits on astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science, space history, general science & engineering.  We will enjoy lunch at the Common Man which features a American style faire with quaint quarters, fireplaces & a cozy upstairs lounge. Lunch will take place prior to the visit of the discovery center.  (Lunch on your own)

American Independence Museum (Exeter, NH) & Tuckaway Tavern

Learn about New Hampshire's incredible role in the American Revolution at the American Independence Museum. Celebrate the fascinating stories behind the founding individuals of our country and how the leadership of New Hampshire’s men like John Stark, John Sullivan and Enoch Poor influenced events by studying the Museum’s exhibits about the Revolution. The Tuckaway Tavern and Butchery features both an award-winning restaurant and a full-service meat market. Something is sure to please the eye and stomach. (Lunch on your own)

Liberty Ride Trolley Tour (Lexington, MA) & Waxy O'Connor's Restaurant

Ride along the historic Battle Road while your costumed guide recounts the exciting events of April 19, 1775 and the literary legacy that defined American identity and culture. Following the trolley ride we will dine at Waxy O’Connors which is an Irish Pub known for a warm welcome, great food & drink with a uniquely relaxing and fun atmosphere. (Lunch on your own)

JUNE COACH BUS TRIP: Mt. Washington Cog Railway

When you ride The Mount Washington Cog Railway, you're in for an unforgettable adventure. Magnificent scenery...efficient new biodiesel locomotives and the classic steam engine combined with a spectacular climb up the highest mountain in the Northeast. Once at the Summit of Mt. Washington, there is an option for photo opportunities, along with a visit to the Observatory Museum and the historic Tiptop House before the trip down. On a clear day, the view extends all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Upon return to the Marshfield Base Station, we will enjoy a sandwich and soup buffet.  Check out the Cog Museum and gift shop before we head home. Transportation will be provided by Custom Coach in one of their coach busses which features comfortable seats and a lavatory.
